Product Introduction: Grease Gun

  • A grease gun is a handheld device for forcing lubricant (grease) under pressure into bearings, joints and other grease fittings (Zerk fittings); common styles are pistol‑grip (trigger), lever‑action, hand‑pump and powered (pneumatic or battery) guns, with either a rigid metal tube or a flexible hose and a coupler at the tip.

  • It’s used in automotive, agricultural, construction and industrial maintenance to replenish grease at service points, reduce friction and wear, prevent corrosion and keep equipment running to schedule.

  • Grease is supplied either in standardized cartridges (e.g., 400 g/14 oz) or from bulk; choose the grease that matches the manufacturer’s recommendation (correct base chemistry and NLGI grade) and avoid mixing incompatible greases.

  • To load a cartridge gun: remove end caps, insert the cartridge, break the inner seal, push the follower rod in and prime the gun; for bulk filling, use the suction or pressure-fill method as applicable.

  • Before each application clean the fitting to remove dirt, firmly seat the coupler on the Zerk, then pump until fresh grease appears at the bearing’s relief or until the specified amount is delivered; this avoids introducing contaminants and ensures proper lubrication.

  • Common operational steps include priming to eliminate air pockets (pump until solid flow), keeping the coupler tight to prevent leaks, and wiping the tip after use to prevent contamination and drips.

  • Maintenance tips: replace worn or leaking couplers, check seals and follower springs, store cartridges in a clean, dry place, and periodically inspect hoses for damage; these steps extend gun life and maintain reliable lubrication.

  • Troubleshooting: if the gun spits or lacks pressure, bleed trapped air and re‑prime; if grease won’t flow, check for clogged fittings, hardened grease, or incompatible grease mixtures and address accordingly.
